Congratulations to all the finalists and our Winners.

Empower Award - Julie Heyes

Julie consistently shows commitment to her role and the project she is delivering. Her enthusiasm emanates throughout her work, providing innovative solutions to improve processes across the contract and beyond. She strives for excellence, improving the service that we provide, with recent successes including the effectively led roll-out of PowerApps across Area 12 and specialist bridges during Covid-19 restrictions, building the data behind the app, the roll-out of the apprenticeship programme and widespread training in safety, customer service and delivery. She recently won the prestigious Construction News Rising Star award, recognising her achievements in continually driving success across Amey.

Engage Award - Emma Parsonage

Emma brings positivity, enthusiasm and energy to everything she does, instrumental in building a supportive and engaging culture across the TI Work Winning Team; onboarding new starters and leading by example as the dedicated Wellbeing Champion. Emma is passionate and proud to work for Amey, sharing learning and best practice from her three years in Amey's central work winning team and engaging internal and external stakeholders to create an environment where people love to work. She takes pride in every element of her work, delivering visually impressive bids, balancing unwavering commitment with an easy-going demeanour that makes her a joy to work with.

Personal Pride in Public Service Award - Kayleigh Davis

Kayleigh has devoted immeasurable time to supporting the development of CAFM use in contracts across FM England and NI following challenging migrations into two systems. Despite her own workload, she has travelled up and down the country to implement effective use and training rollout to several areas of the UK, creating her own training manuals. Kayleigh has carried out all of this despite working compressed hours. With a very lean account management team, we could not have continued to deliver such a standard to our client and reaped the financial benefits without the work she has carried out.

Safety & Wellbeing Award - Michael Arnett

Following the very sad death of much-loved colleague and Area 7 team member, Troy Hawkins, to cancer last year, Michael took it upon himself to help both the team and Troy’s family manage their wellbeing, uniting the team in grief into immediate fundraising efforts. The money raised went towards supporting Troy’s family, covering funeral costs and Cancer Research UK’s vital research. Michael was nominated for this award for the time, care and consideration shown to his team members wellbeing during a very difficult time as they navigated grief within the workplace – turning a tragic event into a positive legacy.

Manager of the Year Award - Julia Rumbles

Julia is very supportive, gives me the Freedom to Perform and utilises my professional knowledge and experience. Always available, Julia uses a coaching style of leadership to listen and challenge me to help find the answers or solution.  She trusts my professional opinion and will always support the decisions I make. She follows up to check if I’ve resolved my issues. She takes wellbeing seriously and is conscious of workload and communication between the team as we are all working remotely and has put plans in motion to provide additional support when workloads have been too high. She helps to identify developmental needs for me to grow professionally and develop skills.

Eco Hero Award - Sean Hamilton

Sean has gone above and beyond his normal duties since he started with the business, developing a new energy report that is now rolled out across our English contracts and also supporting the delivery of energy services to additional contracts. Sean has also offset energy by almost 6% at the Bradford Schools contract, amounting to almost 350T of Co2. In a very challenging world where energy is part of our everyday lives Sean's work has been greatly received by the FM account teams and clients. In addition, he is an excellent communicator, producing ‘Industry News’ articles to engage with and update his team on the latest in all things energy.

Community Hero Award and the People's Choice Award - Mick Taylor

During a Safety Stand Down Day, Mick, from our Stone Highways Depot, took the opportunity to share his story, in the hope that it would help other people. During his 30-minute session with CRUK representatives, Mick shared his Bowel cancer diagnosis, the symptoms he experienced and his process on receiving treatment. He spared no details, bravely opening up and inviting difficult conversations in order to potentially save someone’s life. Mick received a standing ovation each time he delivered his speech, which was hugely emotional for all involved. Now on the road to recovery, he has been asked by CRUK to share his story nationwide.

Innovation Award - William Brookes

Will has spent the past year creating automation software that will see Amey disrupt the design marketplace in 2023. Will’s unique skill set of BIM modelling and Code developing are creating brilliant outcomes. For examples, the "AmeyIntegrate" software is expected to save 25% in time and cost, the software Will created saved £50k in software fees this year alone and there is huge potential for securing future revenue. Will has worked long hours to see this to fruition and shows true commitment to Amey.

Team of the Year Award - Amey Rail Kentish Town Team

The Amey Rail team who worked on Kentish Town Stabilisation Works Phase 3 smashed every target put in front of them. They were given a very ambitious target profit margin, which they knocked out the park through the execution of a robust margin improvement plan; identifying a plethora of efficiencies in procurement, waste management, and compound management. They also pioneered a new carbon reduction tool, resulting in a reduction of 89 tonnes of CO2e, decreasing the carbon emissions of the project by over 30%, and resulting in the project receiving a National Rail Award for Environmental Excellence.

Special Recognition Award - Ahmed Sharif, Shani Kaur and Thomas Strong

For showing selfless commitment and saving the life of a customer in distress. Ahmed, Shani and Thomas attended an incident on the second floor of the magistrate’s court. Whilst Ahmed and Thomas assisted the customer, Shani calmed the situation, encouraging the customer to get some fresh air to clear their mind. After initially agreeing, the customer attempted to jump from the stairs, with the team having to act quickly to save him. Disregarding their own safety, they assisted the customer, holding them in mid-air six metres from the ground, and pulling him to safety.

Civils Team 1 – David McEwan, Allan McLelland, Mark Gammage

Whilst on a nightshift, the team came across a member of the public in distress on the M8, Glasgow. A young lady was standing on the edge of a bridge flyover, ready to jump. On noticing this, Allan went to the girls’ aid and offered her comfort and support, whilst David and Mark, having failed to reach the police via phone, ran approximately 1.5 miles to the nearest police station to alert them. Allan had safely managed to hold the young lady and pull her over the safety fence, before police arrived to take her to a local hospital for support.
