Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s – Day of National Mourning

As announced by King Charles III, the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will take place on Monday 19th September 2022 which will be treated as a national Bank Holiday. As a result, Amey will be honouring an extra day’s Bank Holiday to allow our people to mourn and celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth II.

Please see the below leave arrangements:

If your annual leave is in days and you are not scheduled for work, you do not need to do anything. If you are required to work on this date, you should organise time off in lieu with your people manager. You do not need to do anything on Employee Self Service (ESS).

If your annual leave is in hours we have added additional annual leave hours to your quota for this year. If this date falls on your scheduled working day, you must book this off on Employee Self Service (ESS) or Kronos. If you are required to work on this date, you should use your leave at a later date.

If you are based in Scotland or Northern Ireland we have added an additional floating bank holiday to your quota for this year. If this date falls on your scheduled working day, you must book this off on Employee Self Service (ESS) or Kronos. If you are required to work on this date, you should use your leave at a later date.

(If you are having trouble accessing ESS, please contact the IT Service Desk, or your people manager can book your leave on your behalf.)

If you do not have an annual leave quota on the system because you work term-time only and the site you work at is closed, you should take this day off work and you do not need to do anything.

Ideally, you should make these arrangements to go outside of your normal working hours. However, if this is not possible speak to your people manager to request annual leave, using time from your personal day allowance or try to organise to make the time up at a later date.

If you already have annual leave booked:

If your annual leave is in days you should organise locally with your people manager to take the additional day at a later date.

If your annual leave is in hours, we have added an additional day to your quota therefore you should book another date you wish to take this day via Employee Self Service.

If you are based in Scotland or Northern Ireland we have added an additional floating bank holiday to your quota for this year, therefore you should book this floating bank holiday at a later date.

You are able to access support during this difficult time by contacting Amey’s Employee Assistance Programme. This service is also available to family members.

Business Travel - 12th Sept 2022

Following the sad news from last week our Business Travel provider, Clarity, has advised they are seeing an unprecedented demand for hotels in London and the surrounding area. They therefore recommend that clients consider trying to avoid business travel into London for the next week.

Clarity are also seeing a dramatic rise in hotel rates and also that rates are on a non-refundable basis only. So apart from lack of availability we may also find that looking for a room within the rate cap is a significant challenge.
