“The Women at Amey network and support system in place for women has greatly transformed my career.”

I joined Amey in 2019 as a Senior Overhead Line Design Engineer, with five years of previous experience. My role involves developing and designing mechanical structures that provides power to trains on electrified railway lines. This includes designing new engineering solutions, analysing existing infrastructure data and ensuring design is compliant with industry standards.
I joined the Rail industry after completing my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and two Masters degrees in Engineering Design and Building Information Modelling and Integrated Design.
The complexity of the projects Amey is involved in challenges my skills and brings a sense of fulfilment and growth. The Women at Amey network has help to support my ambitions and transformed my career. At Amey there are support systems in place for women in the industry to develop their careers no matter the direction you want to go in. The camaraderie within my team only strengthens that support network and is one thing I enjoy most about working for Amey.
I recently felt supported and encouraged to become a delegate in the 2022/23 Women@Amey Leadership Development programme. As part of this, I’ve been exposed to wider areas of Amey as a business and have gained experience in a strategic position, utilising my skills and knowledge positively to influence decision making for the business.
Through Amey, I have created a network of people that has encouraged my personal and professional development. My advice to others is to accept whatever opportunities are thrown your way, you never know where it will lead. Constantly review your career progression and celebrate the little wins as you grow.
